- In a medium bowl, combine butter, avocado oil and sugar. Mix until smooth
- Add eggs and vanilla and beat with a whisk until batter begins to look fluffy
- Add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt and mix until well combined
- Last, fold in chocolate chips
- Pour batter into a buttered or parchment paper lined 8x8 glass pan
- Bake at 350℉ for 30-35 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean
- Allow to cool before slicing
Notes
- For this recipe, you can easily substitute the freshly milled flour 1:1 with all purpose flour, however, using freshly milled flour in these brownies definitely gives them an elevated taste and texture.
- If you find that the brownies turn out flat, or the texture is not as fluffy as you would like, try mixing the batter and letting it set while the oven preheats. This gives the flour time to absorb the liquid and can improve texture and flavor.
- If you do not have a grain mill, you can grind wheat berries in a food processor. It takes a little time to get the flour ground fine enough, but it can be done.
- I find that for recipes that don't need to develop glutin, soft white wheat berries work best.
